The United National Transport Union (UNTU) wish to inform its members that there are still 800 UNTU members who has yet to receive letters from Transnet on the outcome of their
application to the joint task team.
Transnet is in the process of sending out these letters, although payments have been made to several affected UNTU members where they were successful in their applications and
were credited with leave.
Please bear in mind that only UNTU members who adhered to the repeated calls of the Union in accordance with the Judgement of Judge Connie Prinsloo in the Labour Court, would have been taken into consideration.
Affected employees had to submit their written submissions by the 3rd of April 2017 to the Joint Task Team consisting of equal representatives of UNTU and Transnet. Each
application had to be decided on its own merit and only employees who have proved that they were prejudiced by Transnet’s actions, would receive relief.
UNTU members who did not adhere due to whatever reason, cannot do so now.
Issued on behalf of UNTU by Sonja Carstens, Media and Liaison Officer. For UNTU
