FEEDBACK: VIRTUAL TNPA NBC HELD VIA MS TEAMS ON 16 APRIL 2021

RELOCATION OF THE TNPA HEAD OFFICES TO PORT OF NGQURA
The consultation process between Labour and Management on the relocation of TNPA HQ to Port of Ngqura continued on 16 April 2021 via Microsoft Teams.

Management team submitted the outstanding minutes of the previous sittings i.e. 21 January 2021, 5 February 2021, 12 February 2021, 25 February 2021 and the 12 April 2021.

There is a dispute between UNTU and Management on the true reflection of the minutes of the 5 February 2021, since the minutes reflected that Management responded to issues raised by Labour on that day, therefore that set of minutes couldn’t be adopted by UNTU since that will be deceiving the process. UNTU requested Management to go back and listen to the recordings of the process since that was on Ms Teams and recorded. The other sets of minutes were adopted on provision that corrections will be made and omissions are inserted.

The danger of adopting the minutes that are not a true reflection of the sitting will compromise us, when we decide to declare a dispute, hence there must be a true reflection. Due to time constrains the meeting was deferred to the 28 April 2021 and Management will thus inform as to how this will be done, perhaps by physical attendance or virtual.

Members will be kept abreast at all times of any new developments as the consultation process unfolds and we appeal to members not to believe the spurious allegations doing its rounds that UNTU is against this matter being taken to Court. As UNTU we will never require the other Union’s approval to approach the Court when the internal process is exhausted.

NB!! UNTU challenged the “Forced Leave” issue to Court and never required the approval of the other Union, therefore what is purported that UNTU is against the other Union taking the matter to Court is farfetched and is intended to mislead employees by tarnishing our name as UNTU.

Please continue to send any suggestions or inputs to the following TNPA Representatives.
