#UNTU PRASA MEMBERS: #WORKERS LIVES MATTER MARCH

#UNTU PRASA MEMBERS: #WORKERS LIVES MATTER MARCH

Members of the United National Transport Union working for the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) in the Western Cape, please join us on 5 December to take hands with our affiliated federation, FEDUSA, and two other affiliated Unions, HOSPERSA and PSA, for the # Workers Lives MATTER march to Parliament.

We will gather from 10:00 in Keizergracht, Cape Town central from where we will depart at 11:00 from Keizergracht down Darling Street, turn into Adderley Street, head towards Spin Street and then left into Parliament Street and end at the gates of Parliament where a Memorandum will be handed over to the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans.

With this March, UNTU together with our affiliated federation and Unions want to highlight the crucial importance of prioritising Occupational health and safety in the sectors where our members have come under constant attack in demarcated red zones.

Currently the safety of our members, especially those working on the notorious Central Line between Cape Town and Khayelitsha are severely compromised due to extremely unsafe conditions. The ABSENCE of an action plan for the Festive Season by all stakeholders responsible for your safety has necessitated the action.

UNTU’s calls on all our Branches in the Cape Town area and our TUR’s to engage with our members and indicate if you are willing to participate. E-mail your availability to sonja@untu.co.za.

Issued on behalf of UNTU by Sonja Carstens, Media and Liaison Officer. For UNTU Press Statements phone 082 463 6806 or e-mail sonja@untu.co.za.
