The Conciliation of the Wage Dispute between Transnet and Organized Labour started at the Transnet Bargaining Council on Tuesday 02 June 2015.
The process was conciliated by Messrs Tsepho Mashigo and Peter Harris. Needless to say the process was tough and protracted to the extent that the negotiations lasted into the late hours of Tuesday.
Many different proposals, offers and demands were exchanged between the parties.
Eventually an agreement was reached that consists of the following:
1. A multi- year agreement consisting of three (3) years;
2. Year One: 2015 -2016:
2.1 Seven (7%) percent across the board (ATB) increase;
2.2 Seven (7%) percent increase to the Night Shift and Standby Allowance;
2.3 Housing Allowance (HOA) increased by 19% from R920.00 per month to R1 100.00 per month;
2.4 Medical Subsidy increased by 34.1% from R820.00 per month to R1 100.00 per month;
3. Year Two: 2016 -2017:
3.1 Seven and half (7,5%) percent across the board (ATB) increase;
3.2 Seven half and (7,5%) percent increase to the Night Shift and Standby Allowance;
3.3 Housing Allowance (HOA) increased by 9.1% from R1 100.00 per month to R1 200.00 per month;
3.4 Medical Subsidy increased by 9.1% from R1 100.00 per month to R1 200.00 per month;
4. Year Three: 2017 -2018:
4.1 Eight and quarter (8.25%) percent across the board (ATB) increase;
4.2 Eight and quarter (8.25%) percent increase to the Night Shift and Standby Allowance;
4.3 Housing Allowance (HOA) increased by 8.3% from R1 200.00 per month to R1 300.00 per month;
4.4 Medical Subsidy increased by 8.3% from R1 200.00 per month to R1 300.00 per month
5. Disability Leave: Seven (7) days spread across a three (3) year cycle.
6. No Forced Retrenchments for the duration of the Agreement: 2015 – 2018
