The United National Transport Union (UNTU) has introduced a new trophy, in an effort to provide recognition to the hard work, achievements and sacrifices of more than 1 000 of our Trade Union Representatives (TUR’S) across South Africa.
Unfortunately, UNTU was unable to award the Eddie de Klerk Floating Trophy to the most promising Trade Union Representative for 2016 because our Branches did not adhere to the criteria, when they nominated candidates.
Therefore UNTU is reopening the nominations for the most promising TUR of 2016, by extending the deadline for nominations of candidates by our various Branches across the country, to Tuesday 2 May 2017.
All nominations must be completed in line with the attached criteria and e-mailed to enquiries@untu.co.za on or before 2 May 2017. No nominations will be accepted after 2 May 2017.
TUR’s represent workers with their; grievances, disciplinary hearings, monitor the employer’s compliance with the Labour Relations Act, and any other legislation that is applicable in the workplace (inclusive of collective agreements) and represents UNTU – because they have a passion for fair and just working conditions.
In the criteria for the awarding of this trophy, the TUR’s attendance of branch meetings, workplace meetings with members, assisting members at hearings, grievances and recruitment of new members will all be considered.
