NO END TO THE ROUTE OF THE UNTU PHAMBILI TRAIN

The United National Transport Union (UNTU) continues to grow stronger every day despite the exceedingly difficult time amidst the global Covid19 pandemic that workers are faced with and the challenges the Union faces in protecting jobs.

UNTU recruited more than four hundred (400) new members to the most progressive Union in the transport industry, although our offices remained closed nationwide and all our employees are working from home to minimize their risk to get the deadly virus.

Hendrik Fourie, President of UNTU, says the Executive Council is very proud and privilege to experience the UBUNTU amongst UNTU members in this time, taking their Union forward in the workplace while the UNTU Organisers have been unable to enter due to the Covid-19 lockdown levels.

“The bigger the muscle the stronger we become. A Union is just as strong as its members allows it to be. Thanks to UNTU’s loyal and devoted members, this Union is growing from pillar to post in a time where severe challenges are facing all workers due to the financial challenges employers are experiencing,” says Fourie.

UNTU would like to remind our members that they get a once-off canvassing fee of R100 for each new permanent employee they recruit and an R50 once-off canvassing fee when they recruit a contract employee. Simply complete the section “Enrolled By” on the UNTU Stop Order form.

Issued on behalf of UNTU by Sonja Carstens, Deputy-General Secretary: Media, Liaison and Communication.
