The United National Transport Union (UNTU) is delighted with the appointment of Riefdah Ajam as the new General Secretary of the Federation of Trade Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA).
UNTU takes pride in the fact that FEDUSA is the first South African Federation to appoint a woman in this vital position to take charge of an organization.
Mrs Ajam is known for her endless efforts in the fight against discrimination, to improve equality and to achieve gender equity. She gives meaning to the theme of FEDUSA’s 2017 Congress, “Decent Work and Decent Life for All”.
UNTU is full of confidence that Mrs Ajam will guide FEDUSA through the Fourth Industrial Revolution to minimise the negative social and economic impact of job losses and to keep Government accountable to stabilise the economy and to enhance job creation.
UNTU wishes her all the best on her new journey.
Issued on behalf of UNTU by Sonja Carstens, Deputy-General Secretary: Media, Liaison and Communication. For UNTU Press Releases e-mail sonja@untu.co.za or phone 082 463 6806.
