UNTU WISHES ITS PRESIDENT A SPEEDY RECOVERY

The United National Transport Union (UNTU) would like to appeal to its members to keep Hendrik Fourie, President of the Union, in their prayers and wish him a speedy recovery.

The President was admitted to hospital on Sunday with a severe infection and is not responding well to antibiotics. Doctors are struggling to identify the cause of the infection.

“Hope you feel better soon. Hoping you find strength with each new day. Have a speedy recovery,” says Trevor Wasserfall, Acting President of UNTU.

Wasserfall has kept Fourie abreast of the developments in the ongoing conciliation of the wage dispute between Organised Labour and Transnet at the Transnet Bargaining Council (TBC).

“The wellbeing of each UNTU member is especially important to the President and therefor he is hands-on with the wage negotiations. It is difficult for him not to be with his leadership team during this difficult time, but we can assure him that we have kept a tight rein,” says Wasserfall.
