It is with great concern that UNTU became aware of an email that was sent on 5 November 2020 by Mr R Mahlabana, Human Capital, PRASA Rail, instructing all Human Resource Offices to stop the pay out of the back pay or loading the agreed increase.
After swift intervention by UNTU, an official communique was released late last night, 9th November 2020 by the Office of the Acting Group Chief Executive, Thandeka Mabija that states the following:-
- As the appointment of the new PRASA Board of Control (BoC) by the Minister of Transport, means that the governance regime has changed and thus has an impact on the process to be followed before backpay and salary increases are to be paid.
The wage agreement is valid and standing.
We urge members to be patient as PRASA is committed to deal with the wage agreement and backpay as soon as possible.
