PRASA PUT FINAL REVISED SALARY OFFER TO LABOUR

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has put a revised final salary offer to Labour today and undertook not to retrench employees.
The negotiation teams of Labour; however, did not sign an agreement but undertook to embark on a process to present the revised offer to its respective memberships for their mandate within two weeks.
Prasa wants to finalise the process within two weeks, irrespective if they implement the salary increase retrospectively from 1 April or should Labour embark on a protected nationwide strike.
Steve Harris, General Secretary of the United National Transport Union (UNTU), reiterated that while the Union wants to prevent a total collapse of Prasa in the interest of its members, it is difficult to motivate members to once again bend backwards to accommodate their employer, when they are working in extreme dangerous conditions for a state-owned enterprise who cannot account for the wasteful expenditure of R14 billion of taxpayer money.
