The United National Transport Union (UNTU) would like to remind its’ members that at 16:00 today is the cut-off date for the Eddie de Klerk Floating Trophy which will be awarded to the most promising TUR.
Eddie, Deputy General Secretary of UNTU, decided to donate this trophy in his capacity as Vice President of FEDUSA: Training and Education. Eddie has been overseeing the training of members and employees of the past 17 years.
He has always been very proud of each student, but especially of those whom are highly motivated and driven in achieving UNTU’s goals to grow and remain the strongest Union in the Transport Sector.
“Trade Union Representatives do not always get the rightful recognition they deserve for the service they deliver to membership. Trade Union Representatives represent workers with their grievances, disciplinary hearings, monitor the employer’s compliance with the Labour Relations Act, and any other legislation that is applicable in the workplace, inclusive of collective agreements and represents UNTU, because they have a passion for fair and just working conditions.,” says Eddie.
In the criteria for the awarding of this trophy; the Trade Union Representatives attendance of Branch meetings, workplace meetings with members, assisting members at hearings, grievances and recruitment of new members will be considered.
